Program Coordinator

The Avenue Road Food Bank (ARFB)* is seeking a Program Coordinator (PC). The PC, with the assistance and guidance of the newly formed ARFB Advisory Group, will manage the day-to-day business of the organization to ensure that the food bank meets operational goals, the needs of our community are served and that our guests, volunteers and partners are treated with dignity and respect.  The role works in cooperation with established and experienced volunteer leads the Hospitality Coordinator, and the Wednesday morning and afternoon leads. The PC will be expected to ensure seamless communication across all groups, support fund raising efforts and manage and conduct key stakeholder relationships including volunteers and donors, and seek out and encourage local community participation and support.

The ARFB is a Daily Bread member food bank that provides weekly food support to over two hundred community families and individuals. The ARFB is located in and operated by the Church of the Messiah at Avenue Road and Dupont Street and is supported by dedicated volunteers, partners and many generous donors. Presently, the ARFB operates oneday a week, on Wednesdays, open to guests between 36 p.m. Ordering, purchasing and administrative dutiesare performed during the week.

The position is initially a one-year contract with a salary range of $2000-$2200/month and based on an anticipated 20 hours/week. The position offers training opportunities supported by ARFB. Working hours are flexible, however presence at the food bank is required along with occasional evenings and weekend hours.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have:

  • A passion for community service.
  • Lived experience with or understanding of food insecurity and its associated issues and challenges.
  • Prior leadership experience and demonstrated success in managing operations and staffing for a food bank and/or non-profit is highly desirable.
  • Experience in operations, budget management, organizational planning and community relations.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing communications between diverse groups.
  • Excellent leadership, organization.
  • Excellent leadership, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Some experience in fundraising.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office or Google Docs, Zoom software.
  • CPR training and first aid.
